On Sea-Watch Attentional Bias of Nautical Cadets of Different State Anxiety Characteristic

    • “Odd-one-out search task” paradigm is practiced in studying the attentional bias of nautical cadets of different state anxiety characteristic when they are on sea watch. The sensitivity to navigational hazards and focus-locking character of cadets with high trait anxiety/low trait anxiety in different situations is studied. The research shows that the cadets with high trait anxiety are very sensitive to the danger information on radar displays of complicated navigation situations and will follow it closely. On the other hand, cadets of low trait anxiety appear to be more sensitive to simple radar displays.
