Abstract
A questionnaire survey for new generation of ship officers is conducted and hierarchical regression analysis is performed to find the factors affecting their organizational commitment and exam moderating effects of individual variables. The analysis reveals that their level of organizational commitment is relatively low. It is found that job satisfaction, safety cognition, and job involvement are three positive factors to the organizational commitment, of which job satisfaction is the most influential factor. As for individual variables, achievement motivation and work ethic have positive moderating effects on the relationship of the organizational commitment and job involvement, other factors, such as employment status, income of family, location of family or being only child, have insignificant direct effects.
