    An image enhancement algorithm for automated container terminal

    • The introduced image enhancement algorithm integrates the guided filtering-based layering processing(GFLP) with improved manual multi-exposure fusion and white balance processing. The improved manual multi-exposure fusion is used to enhance the image contrast and rebuild image details. The GFLP splits the image into basic image layer and detail image layer. The basic image layer is processed with “grey world” white balance. The processed basic image layer and the detail image layer are arithmetically added together to form an enhanced image. The advantage of the GFLP process over more sophisticate image enhancement algorithms for the particular application in automated container terminal is demonstrated.
