Abstract:
Due to the influence of floating ice, ship ice-breaking and positioning signals, the application of multi-beam seabed topographic and geomorphologic survey in the polar high latitude region is quite different from the conventional ocean survey. In order to improve the efficiency of the multi-beam system in the polar high latitude area, and improve the quality of the terrain data obtained. Through the application and exploration of the deep-water multi-beam system installed on the polar research icebreaker R/V Xuelong 2 in several expeditions to the Antarctic and Arctic. The protection of the transducer installed at the bottom of the ship, the influence of the positioning system in high latitude area on topographic survey, how to obtain the surface sound velocity continuously under the condition of more broken ice,and the influence of ship breaking conditions on the quality of multi-beam observation data are studied. Combined with the actual application of R/V Xuelong 2 in polar field,it has fully tested, some positive explorations have been made, which will further accumulate beneficial experience for the subsequent construction and the use of shipborne multi-beam in polar region.
