Design of Teaching Program and Intelligent Operation Assessment for Polar Waters Navigation Training

The special simulation program for polar waters navigation training is developed on the basis of the author’s experiences and analysis of relevant rules. The rules of STCW（International Convention on Standarks Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers） code, polar code and IMO（International Maritime Organization） model course are analyzed. The maritime accidents in ice-covered waters are investigated. The typical navigation tasks and training scenarios are designed and the program of training on simulator is formulated. An intelligent operation assessment index system is devised and the assessment method is recommended.
