Abstract
The structural responses of a model pallet and a real ship with and without polyurea coating under the impact load are numerically simulated. Based on the structure size of the ship, the finite element models of the side plate frame with/without coating are established at real scale, and the numerical simulations with the two models are performed using the transient dynamics software MSC. Dytran to find the collision force, stress, strain and damage deformation of the plate frame under the impact load. Simulation of the ship’s behavior is further carried out to find the impact resisting effect of the coating on the real ship.
