Simulation Study of Wireless Coverage in Corridors on Container Ship Deck

    • A simulation method based on the ray tracing method is devised to predict the wireless coverage in straight long corridors on the deck of a container ship. The reverse calculation deduced from the ray tracing method is used to establish the ray reflection model to simulate the point-to-point propagation. With reference to the recommendations given by the international telecommunication union, the first Fresnel loss point and the Fresnel loss of the straight long corridors are calculated and the ray reflection model is corrected according to the calculation results. The formula to calculate the loss of the straight long corridor on the deck is worked out through fitting two lines of different slops to the simulation data on the least-mean-square-error basis. The path loss factors in fully closed corridors and semi-closed corridors are calculated respectively, 1.508 and 3.030 for the former and 1.512 and 3.323 for the latter, which agree with the general conclusion of ITU recommendation.
